Travel Info for Your Next Adventure

Insurance

You must have adequate travel insurance, and if you are joining a trip which goes to high altitude, you must check that you are covered up to the maximum altitude of the trip.  You will need to provide your insurance details to your guide at the start of the trip.

Visas

You are responsible for arranging you own visas if required.  You will need to provide details of your passport and visa to your guide at the start of your trip.

Local Time

Same time zone as the UK (GMT / GMT+1)  BUT this can vary by 1 hour during Ramadan depending on the time of year it falls.

Electricity

220 volts AC, 50 Hz.  Sockets are 2 pin European (French) style.

Currency

The national currency of Morocco is the Moroccan Dirham (MAD).
It is not easy to get local currency outside of Morocco, and you are in any event only allowed to bring in and take out 1000 dirhams, so you will need to change money when you get to Morocco.
There will usually be a bureau de change at the airport on arrival, but thereafter few opportunities to change money.
ATMs are however plentiful and reliable.Few places will take debit and especially credit cards and do not take travellers cheques - cash is King in Morocco!

Tipping

Whilst tipping your guide and, if provided, your driver is not expected, Morocco is an economy that runs on small gratuities for all incidental services - your guide can take a modest amount from you at the start of your tour to cover these incidentals such as porterage at hotels to save you carrying lots of small change.
